Cold Shower, the secret weapon of your morning routine
When I was suggested, years ago to experience cold shower, I had no idea of its usefulness. Now with many years of daily practice, I still discover some of its beneficial effects that I’d like to share with you.
First let’s define my cold shower protocol:
- Getting wet with (very) hot water
- Wash myself with soap
- Set the water temperature to be as cold as possible
- Rinse with cold water
I like to first wet myself with very hot water to amplify the thermal shock (ie. stress), but that’s up to you: medium or cold water is also fine.
That being said, let’s now review the numerous benefits of this seemingly minor practice.
Cold shower is good for your mood###
Cold shower is naturally anti-depressing but will also makes you more resilient to stress. If you think about it, having a daily cold shower is like having a daily stress to your body (rapid transition from heat to cold do break steel after all). No wonder then that after some times you adapt and become less stressed.1

After your cold shower, you’ll feel as if you’d drank liters of red bull but better.2

Once you’re used to get out your warm comfort to step into your cold shower, all the little difficulties that slow/paralyzes most of the people will become easily manageable to you.
You’ll pass every challenge as you enter your cold shower: One determined step forward with the reassuring feeling that you choose to get through because you can do it, you have already done it and because it will makes you stronger.
Cold shower is good for your skin/hair###
I’ve discovered this effect lately, and maybe some of you will be glad to learn that a cold shower also produces:
- Better skin firmness and elasticity
- Hair/skin dryness prevention
Cold shower is good for your morning routine
The Shower is a great moment to anchor some more practices:
- It’s (hopefully) a daily practice
- It’s long enough to enable other practices
- You can mix it it with many mental/physical practices
For example, I combined my cold shower with visualization techniques. but you can also mix it with
- Breathing techniques
- Meditation
- Rooting/alignment techniques
- …
Conclusion
I hope you now have a better grasp of all the cold shower benefits. As usual I’d be glad to hear about the other benefits you’ve found or the reason why you won’t/can’t have cold shower. So don’t hesitate to leave comments or send me an email at arhuman at gmail.com.
